Dearest Harrumphers,

Imagine a world where a hostile neighbor, just miles away, is on the verge of wielding nuclear weapons. For Israel, that's not a hypothetical—it's Iran, 2025. This isn't a perfect analogy, but it echoes the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 when the U.S. faced Soviet nukes 90 miles off Florida's coast. Both crises boil down to one truth: no nation tolerates an enemy nearby with the power to annihilate it. Yet, some Republicans, scarred by Iraq and Afghanistan, see only boots-on-the-ground quagmires, missing the broader point.

Again, this isn't a perfect analogy. For Israel, it is reminiscent of the Cuban Missile Crisis. For the United States, it’s the Cuban Missile Crisis once removed.

The essence of the Cuban Missile Crisis is there's a cancer that has to be removed one way or another. Kennedy was lucky enough that Russia backed down and removed the cancer. Israel wasn't as fortunate. They were left to do the surgery.

I considered scrapping this monologue due to its potential for nitpicking.
