More than a quarter of American voters say they might vote for a third-party presidential candidate this year and young voters are especially open to the idea.The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 28% of Likely U.S. Voters say they are likely to vote for a third-party candidate in this year’s presidential election including 12% who are Very Likely to vote third-party.

Dearest Harrumphers,
Reading the news reminded me of Donald Rumsfeld's famous quote:
"There are known knowns things we know that we know and there are known unknowns things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns things we do not know we don't know."
Is Trump up, or is he down? Will Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., help or hurt Joe Biden? Will young people vote for Trump in greater numbers? People of color? How will abortion affect the election? Will Joe Biden make it until November? What August, September, and October Surprises do Democrats have up their sleeves?
There are 216 days until legal voting is supposed to stop—otherwise known as Election Day. So much can happen— lawsuits, Black Swan events, candidates' health, misstatements, hot mic moments, international events, terrorist attacks, things people think are terrorist attacks, and so on.
Going forward, uncertainty is a given. That troubles an (unknown) percentage of the population. Due to a fear of the unknown, there is a desire for control and predictability.
We know it's going to be a bumpy ride all the way to Election Day. We don't know where and when the bumps will occur— just that they will occur. Many of said bombs will be created by Democrats who always have their eyes on the prize— 270 electoral votes.
I wish our side shared that focus.
Some will see the next several months as exciting, while others are already exhausted.
