Dearest Harrumphers,
Let's talk about retirement. I'm interested in your thoughts about it.
Personally, I need to work in some capacity. I spoke at some length about this on my Thursday show and podcast. You can hear my thoughts and views there.
The subject of retirement came up this week when Ben Shapiro shared his thoughts on X. Ben believes work is essential for most people because it keeps them engaged, grounded, and sharp. In my opinion, Ben's views have been misrepresented by some. They suggested Ben was saying that no one should retire— not even people who were physically disabled from a life of manual labor.
I don't need to find a villain here. I prefer to explore an issue that will eventually affect most of us. Frankly, reasonable adults' differences of opinion make for interesting conversations. Differences of opinion are inevitable in a free and tolerant country.
