Dearest Harrumphers,
If you have a vast network of friends, as I do, you may have noticed that your liberal acquaintances operate with a dramatically different set of facts regarding news and current events. Ronald Reagan was aware of this phenomenon:
The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant. It's just that they know so much that isn't so.
— Ronald Reagan
As you know, America has a media bias and censorship problem.
Your Democrat friends probably check their Apple News feed every morning before work and listen to NPR on their commute. During the day, they check Instagram, TikTok, Drudge, CNN, and MSNBC headlines and then listen to more NPR on the way back home. Even if they don't watch Democratic cable news at night, they get positive propaganda reinforcement by watching sitcoms and dramatic series.
So, when a casual conversation occurs regarding a current event, you aren't sharing the same reality. It's like living in parallel universes.
There's an old saying— "Reasonable people can disagree."
The problem is, what's reasonable when people get two radically different sets of facts?
